The Wine
Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon 2020
In the Vineyard: Rock Cairn Vineyards is characterized by deep, gravelly loam soil with a western exposure. The vines produce highly concentrated fruit late in the season and are typically the last picks of the harvest. Five blocks of Cabernet Sauvignon separated by age reside on this site, ranging from 5- to 35-year-old plantings. This provides an opportunity for capturing characteristics that are specific to vine age, creating a perfect blend to express this valuable site.
In the winery: Extremely careful elaboration to express the characteristics of the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa valley. The wine is aged in French oak barriques for 24 months (60% new oak).
In the palate: This wine offers a harmonious balance of rich dark fruit, blackberries, and plums with hints of violet, chocolate, vanilla, and spices with aromatics on the palate. Fined grain tannins frame the velvety mid-palate with a crisp, lingering finish. A wine well-structured and complex which will perfectly pair with grilled lamb chops.
