The Wine

In the Vineyard: Tinta Fina (how Tempranillo is known here, grows in the vineyard La Serna like in no other place in Rueda. This is due to the small rolling stones found in this particular vineyard, which do not retain as much heat as the most common plots in Rueda with larger stones, favouring a prolonged maturation of the grape that results into a higher quality and more complex and equilibrated wine
In the winery: Produced in an authentic traditioanl way, using gentle ageing in oak barrels to guarantee preserving the character of the grape
In the palate: This wine is intense on the nose, with a complex range of aromas of black and red fruits, an hints of violets. Complexity is what better defines this special Tempranillo.
The Producer
Bodegas Vidal Sobrechero
The siblings Vidal and Alicia Vidal run a winery that builds upon a very unique understanding on how to translate sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking into special wines that separate themselves from the rest. The Vidal family place extreme attention to detail when it comes to grow the grapes as they believe winemaking starts in the vineyard. All their vineyards and the winery is certified 100% ecologic, but the push the limits beyond that. The relay on increasing diversity to combat diseases, nurturing bees in their vineyards, or using falcons to control animal plagues. They work centenary old vineyards in La Seca and get the best out of each plot. They look to recover ancestral varieties and focus in the production of wines with a long tradition in the area, even if some of these wines cannot be cataloged under the official Rueda DO seal.
