The Wine
Cava Rosat Trepat 2020
In the Vineyard: This rose cava is made from Trepat grapes from the Ubac estate in Sant Joan de Mediona at 500 meters of altitude in the Penedes, which is known as mountain viticulture
In the winery: Vinified at the property, with a cold maceration of 8 hours and a fermentation of 28 days at a controlled temperature of 16-C with autochtonous yeast selected for the variety before the harvest to respect the grape and soil expressions as much as possible.
In the palate: Notes of strawberry, wild berries and cherries. An aromatic, fresh and agile cava to accompany appetizers, starters, fruits, fresh cheeses, or puff pastry sweets
The Producer
Celler Kripta
Formerly known as Agustí Torelló Mata, its founder's name, born in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia in 1935. He started working at the age of 14 and at the age of 18 he opened the first wine analysis laboratory in Sant Sadurní. In 1960 he married Carmen Sibill Cardús, beginning a life that will always revolve around cava and that will consolidate him as one of the best winemakers in the country. A man dedicated to Cava, in 1955 he made his first 500 bottles of cava, while he advised and directed important companies in the sector for years. In 1978 he produced his masterpiece: KRIPTA, recognized as one of the greatest sparkling wines in the world. Under the current direction of his 2 children: Àlex, who is the winemaker, technical and viticulture director, and Gemma, who is the lawyer and administrator of the company, they are a benchmark in Cava family businesses with an exceptional selection of both sparkling and still wines that illustrate the spirit of the Penedés winemaking region like no one else.
