In the Vineyard: 100% Tempranillo grapes coming from a variety of vineyards from the Lecea state
In the winery: The elaboration of this wine is special. The wine is fermented in an old concrete lagar, after which is food treaded in a popular party where wine lovign visitors actively participate in open doors sessions where the stomp on the grapes and assist in the further pressing of the remaining grapes in a traditional mechanical screw press. Corazón de Lago is made from the liquid obtained during the food treading, to guarantee the maximum quality of the end wine
In the palate: This is a wine that smells Rioja. And intense palate of red and black fruits in a product that fills the mouth and leaves a realm of sensations. No better example to understand how wine tasted and was made several centuries ago.
The Producer
Bodegas Lecea
The Lecea family, led by Luis Alberto Lecea, preserves the oldest production methods, the traditional grape treading and the aging of wines in astonishingly large subterranean cellars excavated 500 years ago. They farm their own vineyards in the village of San Asensio, La Rioja Alta for the production of 10 wines with marked personalities. The Lecea family is committed to disseminate their long family tradition, dating back tot he 16th century, within the general public, being highly recognize as the most active leaders of wine tourism in Spain.
