The Wine

In the Vineyard: Tempranillo grapes with history from the singular vineyards Llanos de Artajona and Atxalde, both more than 100 years old, producing the highest quality grapes of the Mitarte state
In the winery: The grapes are harvested by hand during the second week of October. The skins are macerated for 6 days before fermentation takes place. The skins and must are fermented in large French oak for 10 days. Maceration then takes 8 days. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in oak barrels with the lees. The wine remains in the barrels for an additional 18 months. The wine is aged for 12 months in our bottle cellar
In the palate: Jam mixed with roasted coffee and very ripe cherries. Meaty in the mouth with a long lasting expression of ripe black fruits very well integrated with the oak. Elegant, velvety, round and full bodied with a long persistent finish.

Mitarte elaborates a variety of very personal wines from very varied and personal vineyards marked by the terroir and climate of the land with most recognition of Spain and vineyards passed from generation to generation. Their old family tradition is clearly exposed into wines with character and personality that range multiple styles, sampling all the authocthonous varieties of the area, including wines made with the natural coupages of grapes found in century old vineyards in their state.
