The Wine

In the Vineyard: The best Cousiño Macul Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes for this 78-22% Bordeaux blend grown in centenary old vineyards in the Maipo Valley, at the foothills of the Andes.
In the winery: Manual harvest and careful selection of the best grapes that are fermented under temperature control. The Cab and Merlot are processed independently, with a careful selection of the best aged barriques for the Lota after 15 months, with another three more months in the barriques before bottling.
In the palate: Intense ruby red color, with a very complez and intense aromatic nature with black plums and figs as well as floral notes of violets and eucalyptus. This is a very elegant and precise wine, with elevated complexity in the mouth and a extremely long finish.

More than 160 years of history dedicated to the elaboration of first class wines make Cousiño Macul one of the foundational Chilean wineries with the widest international recognition. Among all their wines, Antiguas Reservas started production in 1927 for personal consumption by the Cousiño family and has become the flagship of the winery since then, still produced according to the original philosophy.
