The Wine
Matasnos Etiqueta Blanca 2019
In the Vineyard: This is a wine based on Tempranillo grapes, accompanied with some Merlot (8%) and Malbec (3%), all grown in the forest of Matasnos, in very old vineyards at high altitude surrounded by a millenary-old forest that confers unique characteristics to the fruit.
In the winery: The wine is elaborated with great care and aged in a mix of French, American and Caucasian oak barrels from many different coopers and toasting levels to achieve the high degree of complexity that characterizes the flagship wine of Bosque de Matasnos.
In the palate: Complex, fine and elegant aroma. Intense black fruits with hints of ripe plum, red fruit, cherries and candied sloes, fine leather, vanilla, truffle and a mineral background characteristic of the forest of Matasnos. Fresh and rich, with intensity and a long, fresh aftertaste.
The Producer

They are not ecological, the are sustainable. Just like their elders did, they use all the resources that an exquisite environment of high-altitude vineyards in Ribera del Duero provides. The Forest of Matasnos (donkey-killer) is an inexhaustible source of natural resources and they want it to remain that way. The vine roots get their nutrients from soils with a forest and cereal history to provide the grapes with a unique character that translates into highly sophisticated red wines.
