The Wine
La Casona de la Vid Crianza 2020
In the Vineyard: 92% Tinta del País (Tempranillo), 3% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from vineyards in gravelly and sandy soils.
In the winery: Cold maceration at 8ºC for 7 days. Alcoholic Fermentation for 7 days at 25ºC with native yeast. Aging for 14 months in new French oak barrels of 225 and 500 liters and different toasting levels.
In the palate: Intense cherry red color, with violet reflections on the edge. Ripe fruits, with a slight touch of vanilla, some cinnamon, a background of cocoa and balsamic notes that give it a touch of freshness. In the mouth it recalls black fruits (blackberry, currant), a background of dark chocolate with spices (vanilla, cinnamon) with a long and broad finish. Ideal to accompany roasts, red meat and game.
The Producer
Bodegas El Lagar de Isilla
The story of the El Lagar de Isilla Winery started in 1995 in Ribera del Duero, but dates back to the 15th century historic underground cavern below the restaurant Lagar de Isilla in Aranda de Duero. There, at a depth of 12 meters, the Zapatero Pinto family elaborated the first wine for commercialization, which has now expanded into a successful annual production of 250,000 bottles of highly recognized white and red wines. The Enological Complex in La Vid in a colonial building dating from 1890 is now house of their new winery, a gourmet shop and a very successful enotourism hotel that has granted the family the Enotourism Merit Award by the organization Rutas de Vino de España, and most recently, the Cellar Door of the Year, a recognition by Tim Atkins for the labor by El Lagar to disseminate the culture of wine.
