The Wine
Unanimous La Tejera 2020
In the Vineyard: Finca la Tejera is exclusively made from a single field of 0.65Ha aged more than 100 years on a small valley flowing into the Riaza River, a small branch of Duero river. Common to centenary vineyards of Ribera, Tempranillo dominates (80%) a natural coupage where many other varieties are also present (Garnacha, Albillo).
In the winery: Hand-harvested grapes undergo low-temperature fermentation in SS containers with soft stirring so to ensure extraction of complex noble components from the grapes’ skins. 12 months in extra fine-grained french oak barrels with different levels of smoking degrees. After that, no less than 16 months bottled before put to sale.
In the palate: This is a very special wine that presents all the characteristics expected from the highest quality wine. Very high intensity, concentration and complexity. Elegant and delicate at first. Lots of red fruit, creamy but strong. Perfumed and with salty and mineral notes.

Jorge Arandilla takes this goal as a mission of life, transferring all his energy into managing centenary-old vineyards in a completely sustainable way, with minimum intervention but also highly respecting the traditions. Indeed, he has recovered a subterranean cellar that maintains in the exact manner it was done centuries ago, and disseminates the traditional viticultural and winemaking process to the public through his webpage. The effort results in outstanding wines that represent like no others the best Ribera del Duero has to offer.
