Ancestral Grapes
Old grape varieties recovered from the past
Looking to restore the tradition, identify grapes resistant to disease, or recover the biodiversity from the old times, viticulturists have now many reasons to recover, identify and nurture ancestral grape varieties that have naturally been grown in the area for centuries.
Some of these efforts result in unidentified grape varieties of unknown genotype that are named by their discovers to become a new variety.
Navigate through some of the outstanding wines that result from these unique ancestral varieties and enjoy the richness of the diverse world of wine.
